The basics: how to ride
Ready to roll? Getting around the Metro area is easy when you go COTA – all 365 days of the year! But before you get onboard, there are a few things to keep in mind.
First, you need to know your route, departure time and location, and destination. If you need help with that, use TripPro or call the COTA Connection Customer Service Center at (614) 228-1776, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Not sure how to read timetables? Click here.
Step by step
1. Look for a COTA bus stop with one of the signs pictured.
2. Go to the bus stop. To find the one nearest you, click here.
3. Get to the bus stop at least five minutes early and wait for your bus.
4. Make sure you get on the right bus* – look for the route number and destination on the display sign above the front windshield.
5. Show the bus operator your red student BUCK•I•D card.
6. Kick back and enjoy the ride.
7. Let the bus operator know when your stop is next by pushing the yellow strip or pulling the cord near the window. If you aren’t sure where the stop is for your destination, ask the bus operator or check the route timetable.
8. Exit through the back door when the bus stops.
9. Repeat the steps to return home.
* If you have a disability, look for the International Accessibility Symbol. It’s on the front and sides of COTA buses that are accessible for mobility devices – including wheelchairs and three-wheeled scooters. Bus operators are trained and ready to help secure your mobility device. If you have difficulty climbing stairs, let the bus operator know, because all COTA buses have a “kneeling function” that lowers the front of the bus and makes boarding easier. |
